1. INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Guru Ad Limited (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “the Company”). We are a private company limited by shares incorporated under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with registration number RC 7166517, and registered office in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Guru Ad operates as a pay-as-you-go digital indoor advertising platform, enabling businesses to create, manage, and track advertising campaigns on our network of digital screens in real-time.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, protect, and process your personal data when you use our website, web application, mobile application, advertising platform, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
By accessing or using our Services, you consent to the data practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of our Services immediately.
This Policy is prepared in compliance with:
- The Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019 (and its 2023 Implementation Framework)
- The Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023
- The Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020
- Other applicable Nigerian laws and regulatory guidelines
Guru Ad Limited acts as the Data Controller for personal data collected through the Services.
2. OUR PAY-AS-YOU-GO MODEL: HOW BILLING WORKS
Before understanding refunds, it’s important to know how Guru Ad charges for advertising:
- Billing Starts Only When Ads Play: You are charged at a per-second rate only when your ad is actively displaying on our digital screens. Our pricing is dynamic and may change periodically based on market conditions, platform enhancements, or operational factors. No charges accrue when your campaign is stopped, scheduled for later, or not selected for display.
- Real-Time Deduction: Funds are deducted from your campaign budget in real-time as impressions occur. You can monitor spend, views, and remaining balance live via your campaign dashboard.
- No Hidden Fees: There are no setup fees, minimum spend requirements, or long-term contracts. You control your budget, schedule, and campaign duration.
- Wallet-Based System: All campaign budgets are funded via your Guru Ad Wallet. Refunds for cancelled campaigns are credited back to this wallet for future use.
3. WHEN REFUNDS APPLY: CAMPAIGN CANCELLATION
3.1 Right to Cancel
You may cancel any advertising campaign at any time after creation, payment, or commencement. There is no penalty for cancellation, and you retain full control over your advertising spend.
3.2 Confirmation & Irreversibility
Before finalising cancellation, a pop-up message will inform you that you are about to stop this campaign, and the action cannot be undone. Any unspent budget will be refunded to your Guru Ad Wallet. Once you confirm, the campaign stops immediately and cannot be reactivated. To run ads again, you must create a new campaign.
4. HOW REFUNDS ARE CALCULATED
Upon successful cancellation, your refund is calculated as follows:
Refundable Balance = Total Campaign Budget Set − Amount Actually Spent
- Total Campaign Budget Set: The amount you allocated when creating the campaign (e.g., ₦5,000)
- Amount Actually Spent: The sum deducted for every second your ad was displayed on screens prior to cancellation
- Refundable Balance: The remaining unspent amount, credited to your Guru Ad Wallet
All charges for impressions already delivered are final and non-reversible. Once an advertisement has been displayed on a digital screen, the associated billing for that display is deemed earned and non-refundable.
5. REFUND METHOD: WALLET CREDIT (NOT CASH)
Refunds are automatically calculated through our billing system and credited to the User’s Guru Ad Wallet. All calculations are based on system-generated logs and impression data, which shall be deemed accurate unless proven otherwise.
No Cash/Card Refunds for Campaign Cancellations. Due to the real-time, usage-based nature of our billing, we do not process refunds back to original payment methods (cards, bank transfers, etc.) for cancelled campaigns. This policy aligns with industry standards for pay-as-you-go digital advertising platforms
If you wish to withdraw funds from your Guru Ad Wallet to your bank account, please contact our support team at support@guruad.ng or via the Help → Contact Support feature in your dashboard. Withdrawals are typically processed within 1 – 5 business days after verification. You will receive a confirmation email once the transfer is initiated.
All withdrawal requests are subject to account verification, fraud screening, and compliance review. Guru Ad reserves the right to delay, suspend, or refuse withdrawals where suspicious, abusive, or unlawful activity is detected.
Guru Ad may require identity verification or additional documentation before processing withdrawals.
5.1 Chargebacks & Payment Disputes
Initiating a chargeback or payment dispute after receiving wallet credit or after campaign usage may result in immediate account suspension. Guru Ad reserves the right to recover funds, report abuse to payment processors, and pursue recovery of losses arising from fraudulent chargebacks.
6. NON-REFUNDABLE SCENARIOS
6.1 Fraud, Abuse & Policy Violations
Guru Ad reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to deny refunds, reverse wallet credits, suspend withdrawals, or restrict account access where fraud, abuse, manipulation of impressions, artificial traffic generation, or violation of our Terms of Service is suspected.
The following are not eligible for refunds:
- Funds already spent on delivered impressions. You only pay for actual ad views; spent funds reflect value received
- Wallet top-ups that have not been allocated to a campaign remain in your Guru Ad Wallet for future use and do not expire.
- Campaigns cancelled after full budget exhaustion. No remaining balance to refund.
- Disputes arising from user error (e.g., wrong targeting, incorrect creative upload)
- Third-party payment gateway fees. Fees charged by Paystack, Flutterwave, etc. are non-refundable by those providers.
7. REFUND PROCESSING TIME
- Refund credited to Guru Ad Wallet – ≤ 5 minutes
- Wallet withdrawal to bank account (if requested) – 1 – 5 business days
You will receive an email notification and an in-app alert once your refund has been processed.

10. CHANGES TO THIS REFUND POLICY
- Material changes will be communicated via:

In-app notification or banner
Prominent posting on our website with a revised “Last Updated” date - Your continued use of the Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy
- If you object to changes, your sole remedy is to discontinue use and terminate your account
